Based on the records of the Brimfield Historical Society the beautiful Georgian colonial home of East Brimfield Antiques was built between 1780 and 1820. A large map of the original farm that stretched to the Quinnebaug River, on the far side of what's now East Brimfield Reservoir, hangs in the archive room of the Brimfield Library. The devastating hurricanes and floods of 1939 and 1955 led the Army Corp of Engineers to take all but the remaining 6.75-acre grounds for flood control, but the original house survived these storms as well as several fires. From the 12-over-12 double-hung windows and real working storm shutters, to the wide pine floor boards inside and the strap hinges and antique latch on our front door, you can feel the history at East Brimfield Antiques...
